.:: manifesto ::.
In a time of media-oriented, exterior and aestheticist theatre, our school proposes moving away from the sensationalism in fashion and trying to be orientated towards more simple, powerful and human forms, thus recovering the actor as the unquestionable centre of the theatrical reality.
For this reason the clown is our fundamental tool, a path as well as a goal, as actors, in their investigation, go out in search of themselves, and with ways of interpretation that don’t allow deception or distraction, lack of concentration, or even a momentary disconnection with the public.
Because the clown works with the raw material that nourishes acting: freedom to play, imagination in the body and poetry. Behind him/her, there’s an instrumental actor who, aware of his/her possibilities, functions on the stage within his/her own universe, perceiving the essence of the characters he/she interprets. In this way, Shakespeare, Molière, Chejov, Becket and all theatre…, may be enriched thanks to the irreverent lack of solemnity of the clown.
We once said, “a clown is an actor and an actor is a human being”, and we still maintain it as a premise.
In our school we will try to give the students the basic tools in order to confront a reality that will force them, as professionals, to be their own directors, interpreters and producers.
Actors that are full of life will create a living theatre.
OUR MISION
Our world needs the valiant who enter, many times on their own, into the realms of creation, rebelling against the established, against what society supposedly desires and needs, putting out risky proposals wherepassion and love for a living theatre are the signs that distinguish them.
Our hope, and at the same time our mission as a school, is to give the students the necessary tools that will enable them to construct a living theatre.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Our desire is that the students will manage to create, by their own means, a unique, personal theatre that is rich in fantasy.
This is why we insist that the students incorporate a technique that will allow them to be on the stage functioning with a high degree of truth, with freedom to play and absolutely agile in their fantasy.
PARTICULAR OBJECTIVES
That the students may become conscious of being on a stage in such a way that will allow them to deal with conflicts, in search of a given goal, freely, acquiring a sense of truth that will enable them “to be” when performing.
That at the same time they may be capable of constructing and supporting a dramatic structure, discovering it’s value and knowing, once it’s constructed, how to enrich and respect it.
That they may be able to nourish their finished work and that they understand the idea about “not acting” but rather “playing”, therefore allowing action to generate expression.
That they may genuinely show themselves to the audience working with a sense of truth.
That they discover and experiment the importance of time and rhythm on a stage.
That they explore their dramatic abilities and exploit them.
That they nourish their dramatic structures with life, strength and colour.
That they may turn their intimacy into a dramatic and scenic resource.
That they may compose one or more characters based on themselves and their experiences.
That the student discovers his/her own clown.
